Team of Landsource of Income Foundation (Vesselin Trendafilov, Mariana Shishkova and Stefan Hristov) visited our partner “LARGO”– Kustendil, where we discussed several new proposals for initiatives.
The first idea concerned purchase of young cherry trees for establishment of a cherry orchard. The initiative requires relevant small investments at the early stage of realization. A potential problem will be the income of the Roma family for the next 4-5 years because the first yield of cherries is expected in that period. The project has a potential due to the possibility for expansion of the garden in future. It may be necessary to build a fence to prevent the entry of animals, which can damage the young trees.
The second initiative concerned a reconstruction of a café. The idea of the owners is to transform it to a fast food restaurant. The location of the café is good just in the center of the suburb. Nearby is a stop of public transportation and school. The cafeteria needs serious repair and renovation. Additional equipment is required for the preparation of new menu. The owners lack experience in the preparation of pizzas and snacks and further training is required. In a detailed view of the center we noticed 6 more fast food restaurants. The competition will be too strong to ensure proper income of the family and return of investment.
The third initiative concerned purchasing a van for a local folklore band. The folklore band is well known in the surroundings, with many invitations for events and stable income. Performances of the band require frequent trips to nearby cities and villages. In general the initiative is well grounded but more considerations are necessary for proper realization.
