Visit to Yambol (12 November 2014)

Vesselin Trendagilov and Stefan Hristov visited our partner from Yambol – Foundation „Bolni ot astma“. We reviewed the documentation of the implemented initiatives. We discussed the new proposal for initiatives. Together with a representative from our partner we visited on site several applicants.

The first proposal for initiative came from a family from v. Skalica. The family was of a mixed marriage – the woman was from a Roma origin and the man was karakachanin. The family intended to buy the neighboring house with yard on the amount of 3000 lv. They intended to raise goats in the barn and to plant orchards. 3 years ago they started raising 7 goats. By the moment they were raising about 60 goats. The goats were raised for milk. Daily they had 2 l milk per goat that sold on the amount of 0.7 lv per liter. Most of their income was reinvested in their activity. They had good business plan for the next years. After they pay out the land that would be bought they intended to buy 3-4 cows. In the future they were willing to buy a tractor with 16 horsepower in order to cultivate their land. We recommended the applicant to review the papers for the land. If everything was good, the initiative would be implemented.

We visited v. Kirilovo, where we met Petranka with her proposal for initiative. Petranka and her husband were young Roma family with one child. They lived together with the parents of the husband. Mainly they raised sheep about 80 pcs. They also raised 7 cows for fattening. They were willing to buy a house with yard on the amount of 9500 lv. in order to expand their agricultural activity and to live separate by the parents. The man wished to continue raising sheep and the woman intended to plant orchards (plums). The applicant was still not ready with own contribution. The initiative was prospective, but the price of the plot was high and the applicant should plan his activity more precisely. We decided to postpone our next act, subsequently we should review the initiative again.

We inspected already fulfilled initiative for the purchase of cows in v. Kozarevo. The cowshed was in good condition. The manure was utilized for feeding of California worms, thereby further achieving the standards for processing and storage of manure. One of the new cows was in the shed together with its calf. The rest of the cows were grazing and we visited them on site. The cows were in good health with ear marking according to the norms.
