My part in the workshop was focused on the agricultural practices to reduce and prevent water and soil pollution, ways to achieve a more favorable environment, balanced use of mineral and organic fertilizers. The participants and I discussed the various reasons for the environmental pollution with nitrates and in particular the agricultural farms as a main source of nitrate pollution through the use of mineral fertilizers. We discussed the right use of the plant protection chemicals and dose calculation, how to calculate the right amount of fertilizers needed for nourishing the crops.
