style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Since Bulgaria&#8217;s accession to the EU in 2007, the number of small farms has been steadily decreasing, with a decrease of 50% in recent years. As a result, rural areas, and especially mountain areas, are losing their economic viability, and problems with the demographic crisis and the lack of labor are deepening and valuable local resources are being lost. The study examines and explores a relatively new topic on the introduction and use of new business models in starting up a farming business, which is the main path preferred by EU rural development policy. The purpose of the article is to identify and propose business models that will contribute to the optimal use of resources, enhancing the economic level of small farms. The advantages of small farms, their needs and the difficulties they face for starting a family business are outlined. The results of the study strongly indicate that small farms need to be transformed through greater market integration, higher production efficiency (new technologies and the introduction of digital services), the integration of economic alternative economic activities, including the addition of value to local products and more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Abstract<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Family farming plays key role in Bulgarian agriculture as a source of employment and income in rural areas. Therefore it is important to focus the attention on opportunities and challenges these holdings face. In the study are applied comparative, historical and logical methods of analyses. The survey is based on the data provided by Eurostat. The results indicate that family farms are predominant structures in Bulgarian agricultural sector, representing over 94% of the total number of farms in the country. The family members are 92% of the work force in these holdings. On the other hand, family farms concentrate only 38% of UAA and generate less than 47% of the standard output in Bulgaria. They face challenges related to limited access to financial support and low competitiveness and investment activity. In other to address the emerging issues European and national agricultural policy should be revised. Family farms are very important for eliminating poverty and shaping food future. Therefore, it is necessary to highlight their role and support them to innovate and achieve sustainable development.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, People with hearts and minds &#8211; the combination of human imagination and the will to succeed &#8211; is the critical resource that provides sustainability. It works most effectively in the face of unlimited exchange of goods and services, access to knowledge and sharing of ideas, and the Internet already removes all the physical barriers to its power. All this happens not despite, but thanks to population growth, consumption of resources and wealth that maintain a closed cycle of pressure and response. font-size: 14px;\">Abstract<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Family farms are the main form of organization in agriculture and play an essential role in the development of rural areas. One of the main characteristics of the family farms is that the members of the households work in them. The purpose of the study is, based on an analysis of a real farm and the impact of direct support on family income, to draw recommendations for policy development in this direction. In order to achieve this goal, an economic-mathematical model was developed, and eight scenarios with different levels of support were examined. The main conclusion is that the farm could operate without receiving support because the income generated by this scenario is sufficient to provide an average standard of living for the family. The reasons for exploring ways to develop and support small and medium-sized businesses are due to the fact that it is the cornerstone of the economy and a key factor in the presence of competition and free markets and sustainable development. The analysis reveals a number of challenges that lead to the deterioration of the economic development of small and medium-sized businesses and pose a risk of bankruptcy. In order to overcome them, it is necessary to work in several directions: (1) Introducing changes related to reducing the tax burden on small businesses. (2) Developing targeted support programs for SMEs; and (3) introducing measures to reduce the administrative burden and simplifying the procedures for small businesses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Abstract<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">The development of the Bulgarian agriculture has been associated with significant structural transformations in the past decades. In the context of the new programming period post 2020 number of challenges should be outlined and addressed. The aim of the study is to observe the structural changes in the Bulgarian agricultural sector and to highlight the main opportunities for more balanced territorial development. In the survey are applied Specialization ratio and Herfindahl-Hirschman Index (HHI) as main measures of structural transformation at national and regional level. After the accession to the EU there is an upward trend in extensive crop production and challenges in the livestock sector. After the EU membership, there is a decline in the role of agriculture at national and regional level. The sector has the highest share in the North-West region and other parts of North Bulgaria. South Central Region has the most balanced sectorial development, while the regions of Northern Bulgaria are characterized by high levels of specialization, mainly in extensive crop production. In order to address the main challenges national agricultural policy should be reformed. Therefore new models for regional development directing the specific features of the rural areas can be considered as an option for the post 2020 period.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">The innovations in agriculture are considered as a key factor in resolving number of global challenges as food quality, food security, scarcity of resources and their unequal distribution. On the other hand, the process of diffusion is crucial for adoption of the new technologies. The aim of the study is to survey the theory of the agricultural innovation and diffusion and to outline the main challenges related to the topic. The study is based on review of scientific literature and various reports. The characteristics of agriculture redefine the complexity in the adoption of innovation. The results of decisions to adopt new innovative practices are not immediately apparent and could take months or even years to materialize. Nevertheless, innovations are seen as one of the main drivers of agricultural productivity and competitiveness. The survey shows that awareness and knowledge of farmers should be improved, as well as sectorial cooperation and social links in order to increase the speed of the diffusion process.<\/span><\/p>\n<p 14px;\">Abstract<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">The North-West region is characterized by a number of negative trends and low economic development. After the accession to the EU, the unfavourable changes in the region are continuing, and it is very important to highlight the opportunities to overcome the issues. Vratsa is one of the most economically developed district in the region, however is lagging behind by number of indicators from other regions in Bulgaria. The aim of the study is to analyse the socio-economic status of Vratsa District and to identify opportunities and prospects for its sustainable development. The results of the study show that Vratsa has a prominent industrial profile. Manufacturing generates nearly one-third of the GVA and the agricultural sector has higher share than the country&#8217;s average. Although it ranks fifth in terms of GDP per capita in Bulgaria, the living standard in the district is not high. The main reasons are associated with the unfavourable trends in the labour market, where unemployment is twice higher than country`s average, and in 2018. the employment rate is declining. Although it is one of the districts with favourable demographic situation in the North-west region, Vratsa continues to lag significantly behind the national average. Industry should continue to form the district profile. However, the foreign investment and the investment activity of enterprises should be increased. The other sector that has potential for development is tourism. In this regard, the tourist base should be improved and local resources and attractions developed, through various forms of funding.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Abstract<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">The report focuses on the clusterization process and clusters as a potential strategic development factor for the Bulgarian Agri-food industry. The presented ideas hypotheses and results are based on the work being done within the \u201cStrengthening Competitiveness of Agri-food SMEs through Transnational Clusters \u2013 FOCUS\u201d project, funded by the Cooperation Programme \u201dInterreg V-B Balkan-Mediterranean 2014-2020\u201d. An analysis of the Bulgarian Agri-food industry within an EU context has been done. A three stages process for cluster establishment and development is presented with the main issues that need to be addressed in each stage. The 4 helixes approach to clusterization has been discussed. font-size: 14px;\">Abstract<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">This study presents opportunities for tax incentives for family tourism business in Bulgaria. For this purpose, a study and analysis was carried out on dynamics of tax collection and amount of local taxes for the period 2017 \u2013 2019. On this basis was made a sample of different types of municipalities in which tourism business is prioritized \u2013 sea, mountain and spa. The variation of the amount of tourist tax paid was examined in different groups. Tax preference options are available at the municipal level for businesses in crisis, by changing legislative framework, reducing or abolishing some taxes and digitizing processes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;
